Thermoforming Ovens

As a replacement for traditional electrical heating elements in thermoforming equipment, Vulcan catalytic heaters provide dramatic energy cost savings, using long wave infrared heat generated by a flameless reaction from Natural Gas or Propane. All plastics very effectively absorb this energy heating through to the core with less temperature variation from the plastic surface to the core.

The results are fast cycle times with an even material distribution during the vacuuming process.

Savings of up to 80% in energy costs are realized assuring fast payback on the retrofit.

Multiple zoning ensures a well controlled forming process, using Vulcans Gas Pulse technology.

Horizontal Ovens

Catalytic infrared industrial ovens are used over horizontal conveying lines to cure coatings on products ranging from metal ceiling tiles to leather hides. Solvent, liquid or powder coatings are all good absorbers of medium to long wave IR emitted by catalytic heaters.

Horizontal infrared ovens are ideally suited to the wood coating industry, curing liquid coatings on heat sensitive wood substrates. Lower operating energy costs along with a reduced foot print area as compared to convection ovens are just a few of the benefits realized from this technology.

Vertical Ovens

Vulcan will custom design vertical ovens for any coating or dry-off application for the coating industry. With the direct application of catalytic Infrared, medium to long wave energy on to the liquid or powder coated surface, the cure and dry-off times are dramatically reduced over the traditional convection oven technology.

Infrared there are many more benefits to the process and product quality than just energy savings. The fact that the IR is absorbed by surface of the product raising the temperature of only this area to be cured, as opposed to a convection oven where the whole product is brought up to the cure temperature. This reduces cool down time, requires less energy and is accomplished in a smaller foot plant foot print.

Industrial Infrared Drying Ovens

Vulcan designs and builds catalytic drying ovens for applications ranging from drying leather to Biomass substrates such as wood chips, mulch, grains and sludge.

Infrared heaters are arranged in many attitudes to effectively direct infrared directly or indirectly towards the material to effectively remove water from plastic and other municipal wastes.

Infrared catalytic systems are also used for the elimination of insects, pathogens, including salmonella in products such as rice, corn as well as general food dehydration as well as with commercial pet food drying.

Laboratory Ovens

Infrared Laboratory Ovens are used by powder coat formulators and suppliers of the input resins that are used to produce liquid or powder coatings, to test the effects of catalytic Infrared on these raw and finished materials.

The ovens are custom built specifically for testing applications and simulating large oven operation.

Multi zone operation controlled by a PLC will stage the oven settings through a cure cycle that starts off high for a programmed amount of time and then changes to lower zone settings for another period of time. This cycle is repeated as often as necessary to replicate an Infrared curing or drying process.
